Real Talk Blog: 2/6/12 – Superbowl Recap
February 6th, 2012After a week full of analysis and storylines, the Super Bowl yet again proved why it is the premier spectacle in American sports. The New York Giants and New England Patriots engaged in their second meeting for the Vince Lombardi trophy in four years, with the Giants ending up victorious, again. The crew from ‘Real Talk’ will be on from 4-6 P.M. on Tuesday to break down the game, what they thought the most important plays in the game were, and even Madonna’s halftime show.
While Justin was correct in picking the Giants, Colton has some crow to eat after picking the Patriots by a margin of 14 points.
In addition to talking about the Super Bowl, the boys will also be breaking down the Nuggets’ recent slide, and what they need to do to get back on track during their 3-game homestand this week. Sticking on the basketball front, the college game is heating up as we draw closer to March and ‘selection Sunday’. Both University of Colorado and Colorado State University have excellent tournament chances this season, and we’ll delve into their remaining conference slates and project where they’ll end up. So be sure to tune into ‘Real Talk’, from 4-6 pm (MST) right here on KMetradio.org!
Let the games begin!
January 7th, 2012He did it again! Tim Tebow constructed a game wining drive in spectacular fashion to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs and send the Broncs’ into the playoffs. Or…Not quite. The Broncos lost to the Chiefs 7-3 and by default, will get to advance to the playoffs because the Oakland Raiders choked when the lights got bright.
“We go out there and perform like we did the past three weeks, we don’t stand a chance,” All Pro corner Champ Bailey said. “We’ve got to get better.”
Couldn’t be more true but the Broncos are getting a battered Steelers team that will be without a starting safety, starting center, starting running back and an injured Ben Roethlisberger (high ankle).
The Broncos need to force turnovers and that starts with taking advantage of the injuries. Steelers starting center, Maurkice Pouncey’s absence, combined with Roethlisberger’s lack of mobility needs to lead to Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller creating havoc for the Steelers.
Colton is on vacation so I’m holding the Wildcard weekend down by myself. I burden this responsibility with caution and care.
Week 13 was the last time we picked games. Coincidentally, the Lions and the Saints played that week too. Colton went 13-3 that week and I went 11-5 thanks to the Eagles and Raiders’ respective choke jobs against the Seahawks and Dolphins.
Steelers @ Broncos—I like the Steelers in this one because field position and time will eventually take their toll on the Broncos defense. The Broncos will keep it close early but will not score enough in the end and probably give up a cheap 7 points by turning over toward the end of the game. 26-10 Steelers.
Bengals @ Texans– The Texans have the most dramatically improved defense in the league since last season. They will miss Matt Schaub in this one. I think they are better than the Bengals when all hands are on deck but without Schaub and Mario Williams, they will go on vacation after Saturday’s game. 24-13 Bengals
Lions @ Saints—The Lions are tough to pick and its mostly because of youth. Their defensive performance against Matt Flynn last week and Green Bay should be alarming. Despite Ndamukong Suh playing this game, (missed week 13) the Saints will still prevail. Suh missed the regular season game in week 13 and he will bother the Saints passing game but Drew Brees is playing quarterback better than anybody in the league.
45-31 Saints
Falcons @ Giants—This is by far the best game of wildcard weekend. The Giants are the most superbly average team in the playoffs. The Giants are great one week and garbage the next. Their front four is always the key because the secondary is subpar. Nobody would be surprised if the Giants won but im picking the more consistent Falcons. 35-28 Falcons.
Real Talk Blog
October 25th, 2011Kevin Hall from the MetReport and Ramsey Scott from the Metropolitan joined Colton and I this week. Kevin Struggled last week but he is back for more.
The season has begun to separate the chumps from the pack and our increasing number of consensus picks reflects it.
Consensus picks
· New Orleans over Seattle
· Houston over Jacksonville
· Baltimore over Arizona
· Ney York Giants over Miami
· Buffalo over Washington
· Detroit over Denver
HOME TEAM PICKS
Colton 35-10 Lions
Justin 28-17 Lions
Ramsey 38-13 Lions
Kevin 35-10 Lions
All of our chosen winners are hosting except for the Saints and Lions.
Favorites rarely win all the games on Sunday so we all felt it necessary to pick an upset this week. Some of us picked two. Genius or Moronic?? Time will tell…
MIN @ CAR–Kevin swears by the analyst code of conduct that he is not picking the Vikings over the Panthers because he is a hater. The rest of us are taking the Cam Clan.
IND @ TEN — Colton doesn’t think the Colts are going winless. The Jury is out
CIN @ SEA – Kevin has two upsets and he thinks the home crowd will carry the Hawks pass the surprising Bengals.
CLE @ SF – This is my bullet. Recipe includes a complacent defensive effort by the Niners, 2 Alex Smith turnovers and Colt MCcoy not throwing picks. Not sure if Pat Shurmer can cook that good.
SD @ KC — Ramsey concludes the upsets by taking the Chiefs in Arrowhead. Vegas usually gives the home team 3 points and the Chargers won by 3 at home in wk3.
Big games include
NE @ PIT—Kevin rode solo and took the Steelers but beating up on Arizona, Tennessee, Seattle, Jacksonville and Indianapolis does not prepare you for Tom Brady.
DAL @ PHI – Colton and Ramsey like the Cowboys putting the dagger in the “Dream Team” but Kevin and I believe in Andy Reid after a bye week. His record is 12-0

Real Talk NFL Update
September 27th, 2011Once again, our picks were close but this time I came out on top. The champs, Seahawks, Lions and Bills were the difference this week.
Last Week
Colton 11-5
Justin 12-4
Editor in Chief of the Metropolitan Newspaper, Ramsey Scott joined us for some picks and we will see if he is on par with our 11-12 win picks per week.
DET @ DAL –Consensus should say DET but the homer in Colton lives. Its ALIVE! ITS ALIVE!!
NO @ JAX—Consensus says Saints. Too much offense for the Jags
TEN @ CLE – If the Browns can hang around, Ramsey and I don’t think the BRITTless Titans can score TD’s. Chris Johnson owes Colton yards…and me some fantasy points
BUF @ CIN—Consensus says Buffalo but this could be a trap game. The Bills host the dream team next week
WAS @ STL – Consensus says Rams. The Rams need one and the Skins are in a giving mood based on Monday night’s performance.
SF @ PHI—Consensus say Eagles. Vick or not, the Niners will not score more than 17 points
Min @ KC—Colton and Ramsey think Arrowhead will be going crazy and I think AP will finally get some help from McNABB.
PIT @ HOU—Again, I stand alone in picking the Steelers. For some reason the fellas chose the Texans
CAR @ CHI—Consensus says Bears. The tape is starting to catch up with Cam and the Bears are at home
ATL @ SEA—Consensus says Falcons. I will pick against the NFC West in almost every inter-divisional game
NYG @ ARZ—Ramsey and I think the good Giants will show up. Colton likes the UPSET!
DEN @ GB—Consensus says Packers. I say 38-17, Colton hates on the Broncos as much as any Raider fan and picked 40-13. Ramsey Doesn’t care too much for the Broncs’ either. 35-10 is his pick.
NE @ OAK—Consensus says Pats. Brady threw 4 picks and they still hung 31 on the Bills. He will play better and the Raiders are thin in the secondary.
MIA @ SD – Consensus says Chargers. Chargers didn’t look good against the Chiefs and Tony Sparano is already hearing the whispers for his job
NYJ @ BAL— Great Sunday night game. Colton likes Rex in his homecoming and I like that the Ravens put nothing but a pass offense on film against the Rams. Ray Rice should be featured this week.
IND @ TB—Consensus says Bucs. Valiant effort against the Steelers but No Peyton = Andrew Luck consideration for Bill Polian.
Real Talk Update
September 20th, 2011Last Week went down to the Sunday Night game and Colton pulled the victory out by choosing the Falcons over the Eagles.
Last Week
Colton 12-4
Justin 11-5
HOU @ NO–Consensus says Saints. Colton can’t pick against Brees again. I just don’t think Houston has proven that they got the pass defense for the Saints
NYG @ PHI—Colton thinks the good Giants will show up. Another example of Pass defenses scaring me. I like Philly
JAX @ CAR—Consensus says Panthers. We both see Cam getting his first Win.
NE @ BUF—Im boarding the Ryan FitzPatrick bandwagon. Shootout potential but Colton is rolling with the Pats
Mia @ CLE—Toss up game!! We picked colors. Im taking the guys in aqua blue. Colton like the Brown uniforms.
SF @ CIN—Consensus says Niners. We like what we saw against the Cowboys.
DEN @ TENN—Consensus say Titans. Colton thinks the Titans top 200 total yds rushing. I think the Broncos are in it but im taking the Titans
DET @ MINN—Not enough offense for the Vikings to keep up but Colton thinks AP is enough
BAL @ STL—Consensus says Baltimore. They should be fired up after the Titans beat em up
NYJ @ OAK Consensus says JETS. Hurts to pick against the Oak but the Jets are not pretenders.
KC @ SD—Consensus says Chargers. NO chance for KC.
ARZ @ SEA—Another Toss up. I got the Hawks. Colton is sticking with ARZ despite last week’s loss to the Redskins.
ATL @ TB—Atlanta and New Orleans are the big dogs of this division. Colton thinks Freeman is ELITE!
GB @ CHI—I got the Champs. Bears looked overwhelmed with the Saints. Colton is playing the rebound in this division game. He is taking the Bears
PITT @ IND—Consensus says Steelers. This game mattered when they made the schedule.
WAS @ DAL—Consensus says the Cowboys. Washington is not starting this season 3-0.
Real Talk Sports Update
September 13th, 2011
Thats the Autumn Wind blowing through the city Denver. The wind of a Raider. 23-20 was the final and the next one is in the Oak. Victory feels good. Colton and I have made our picks for week two. Feel free to tell us why we are wrong.
KC @ DET—Consesus Detroit. KC could not have had a less impressive debut
BAL @ TENN– Consensus Baltimore. Beat Down on the Steelers and the Titans looked mediocre vs the Jags.
CLE @ IND– Consensus Cleveland. Colts are in trouble.
OAK @ BUF– Justin has the Raiders because he is a homer. Colton was impressed with the Bills going to Arrowhead and dominating the Chiefs.
TB @ MINN– Colton believes the BUCS will bounce back. I have Minnesota in their home opener.
CHI @ NO– Colton is a believer in the Bears after they laid the wood to Atlanta. I think the Saints got too much offense.
JAX @ NYJ–Consensus Jets. Jets played an efficient game vs Dallas and their at home again.
SEA @ PITT–Consensus Pittsburgh. Steelers got punched in the face and need to bounce back
ARZ@WASH–Colton like the Cards for rational reasons and i’m going with Shanahan and Grossman for irrational reasons.
GB @ CAR–Consensus Green Bay. Cam Newton will look more like a rookie vs the champs
DAL@SF–Consensus Dallas. I think this will be closer than Colton but we both like the Cowboys.
SD@NE–Gimme the Pats because Brady and the offense looked ready. Colton sees the Bolts coming out of Gillette victorious.
CINN @ DEN–Colton thinks the Broncs will respond in week two. I think Cedric Benson will be a bully at Sports Authority Field.
HOU @ MIA– Consensus Houston. Too much offense and the only Henne I like is in the bottle.
PHI @ ATL–I like Mike Vick going back to the Dome but Colton says Matt Ryan is going to be on edge and have a big day.
STL @ NYG Consensus Giants. Bradford and Sam Jackson out?? McDaniels, Bill Walsh, or anybody else would struggle without their staring qb and rb.
Real Talk Blog Update
September 6th, 2011We just got done talking about the beat-down that Broncos fans will have to endure Monday Night and all season long. Reverence for the OAK aside, it should be a great weekend. PIT vs BAL, Dal vs NYJ and opening night with the last two Super Bowl Champs?!?! Cold drinks and flat screens all weekend man!
