This weekend the MSU Denver Softball team will travel to Pueblo to take on Colorado State University-Pueblo in a doubleheader.
These will be the first official Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games for the Runners since last weekend’s games against Colorado Christian University were cancelled due to inclement weather.
I talked with head coach Kristi Lansford about the upcoming games.
Q: What do you know about CSU-Pueblo?
A: “They’ve started off pretty well. We had a tough time with them last year,” Lansford said. “I think they’ll be good games.”
Q: What did you learn from playing them last season that you can take into this season?
A: “When we played them early in the year last year, I don’t think our pitching was throwing as well as it did at the end of the season,” Lansford said. “If we can go in strong on the mound, then we can do well.”
Q: What are the implications for these games?
A: “They’re huge. They’re our first conference games,” Lansford said. “We unfortunately didn’t get the games in last weekend, so this will be our first conference test.”
Q: What are your expectations?
A: “I want to win the series. That’s the goal of every weekend you go into,” Lansford said.
